My sister always got embarrassed if I mentioned her obsession with The Sweet. As a teenager her bedroom walls were plastered with pictures cut out of magazines. All of them depicting her favourite popstars of the time. Prior to The Sweet she had gone through a Bay City Roller phase. Bubblegum pop that needed popping. Thank god then for The Sweet. Later I plastered the same walls with images of Debbie Harry and Gary Numan. Never be ashamed of the songs and bands that shaped your musical tastes. That said, I once bought Walking in the Air by Aled Jones. It was a confusing time as I also, on the same day, bought Love Missile F1-11 by Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Did I say never be ashamed?
Never be ashamed of the music that shaped your life nor the people who produced said music. On a lighter note, Google Steve Priest of The Sweet... Fuck me he's fat now!
